Sri Lankan Pulse began with a simple, stubborn conviction: that one of the world's most culturally rich nations deserved better than surface-level coverage. Our founders — journalists, writers, and creatives who grew up between Colombo and cities across the UK, Australia, and Canada — were exhausted by the gap between the Sri Lanka they knew and the Sri Lanka they kept reading about.

They wanted to read about the street food vendor in Pettah who has perfected his kottu over thirty years. About the Tamil poet in Toronto writing into grief and joy simultaneously. About the surfer in Arugam Bay who left a London finance career and never looked back. Stories that were specific and true and full of the kind of detail that only comes from people who genuinely know the place and its people.

So they built it. Sri Lankan Pulse launched as an independent digital publication, committed to editorial rigour, cultural generosity, and the belief that great journalism and great storytelling are not mutually exclusive. Today we reach readers in more than 40 countries — and every story we publish is still held to the same standard we set on day one: does it feel true?
